Hi Kristina,
geeze, I had not realized that it was a whole year since the post...time really does go by quickly.
I have not been posting much since not much has been going wrong since I acquired my mpi. You should post some updated photos of the mongrel.

I'm glad to hear your MPI is treating you well!!

Mongel is not looking to chipper these days and I don't want to embarass him by taking any pics right now. He's awaiting an engine transplant and has no motor right now.

Don't be a stranger, your advice is still great and you have a lot to offer us less fortunate Mini owners.

Are you finished with school yet?

      Thanks

Kristina

"I'd like to see them figure out a way to do this on a mini."

Take a Russian, add some Vodka, throw in a torch and a couple of gallons of bondo....oh yeah, and a roll-up garage door!

Just wanted you to know you're missed. Funny but you started that thread almost 1 year to the day ago.

It's a very cool idea, I'll let others try it out and perfect it first though.

I seem to remember a certain German car maker building a car with alternate opening doors. Those things are going for near a half million dollars now. I know it wasn't the doors that made it valuable though. I think an innovative design should be embraced. Kind of like Alec Issigonis' idea.

also, if you study the film, it looks like most / all of the rocker structure was removed to fit this.

How well will a unit-body car hold up without that important part of the body structure missing?

That car was on ebay last year. The bidding went to around $4500. I also remember that the drivers door didn't work and because of some legal problems with Jatech, no parts or service was available. It's a cool idea in theory, but it would be impracticle in reality. Just think of the problems there would be in the winter months with snow and ice under the car. Add to that the fact it was based on a Lincoln MkVIII. I can understand why it didn't reach a very high price. Mark
