There is a number on the cylinder head and if you look it up it will tell you the compression ratio. They had 9.4:1 and 10.3:1 I think. Both of my SPI cars are 9.4:1 compression so don't get your hopes up. LOL. Most all SPI final drive ratios are 3.1. Trans is nothing special, rod change is what it's called. Well, except that I've heard the factory just threw any shims in the trans they had available, so if you rebuild it, pay close attention to tolerances. Enjoy your Mini. Any oil leaks?????? Todd My Mini's are un-officially sponsored by Coor's brewing company.

Your SPI mini is probably a 1991- 1994 true model year-Living in Washington State, you would have to be driving a re-vin to qualify for the 25 year rule- If it has A/C then it is a Jap spec model-Any japanese writing in the car (sun visor) ? Surely the vendor would have filled you in on this basic info ?? BIG AL

The Minifinity forum has a good reference chart that will assist you in answering your questions. It is in the technical document section. engine block identification chart, I think. Michael Abeita mikea@audioexpressusa.com

I bought a SPI Mini a couple weeks ago and would like to know what type of engine and tranny I have. Is there cast information on the block that I can look up? Where do I reference the information. I don't know if it has ever been swapped out or anything like that and would just like to figure it out. I have been able to narrow it down a little because I have a sun roof and an SPI, but other than that, what should I be looking for. Thanks for any help ya'll can give Shawn If at first you don't succeed, "Blow It In Place ".
