Any stereo would work, or you could run an amp and plug in your mp3 player.

As for the keys, like Mabeita says, go to an actual locksmith.  I found out that my MK4 ignition key matches a late 90s Honda Civic key.  If I ever went VTEC, I'll probably have one made.

When I got my mini I went to a local locksmith, an "Old School" locksmith that's been around for a while.  He made a set of spares for me with blanks off the rack in his shop.  The handles don't match or anything, but they work just fine.

The K&N air cleaner is part# E-9172, and local plugs if needed are Champion RN9YC, Although I like running with the NGK BPR6ES.

Any local stereo shop should be able to outfit your mini with a new head unit, just check around a bit, and if you don't find anyone that you trust to do the job you could always drive to Phoenix, where I live, and I could arrange for the purchase and installtion of one for you.

If our host doesn't have the keys, try Triple-C on line. They have most the blanks needed for our english cars. If your key has a number on it they can also make the keys to the factory spec. The keys I got with my Mini were so old that making a copy of one probably would not have worked. Kind of like making a xerox copy of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, of a copy, well you get the picture.   dan

the odds are that no one will have the key blanks. Buy them from our host. Anyone can cut them for you once you have the right blanks. There are a lot of blanks out there that seem pretty close, but last time I looked, none of the hardware stores (the good kind of hardware stores that have everything) had the right one.

The fog lights are wired to the high beams in that model, mine are the same way.  I suppose you could re-wire them to a separate switch, but it doesn't seem worth the hassle to me.  As far as the exhaust, it doesn't sound anywhere near stock to me, our host carries a number of exhaust components.  I would be sure to order something that's designed for the fuel injected engines, you'll have to worry about the O2 sensor and cat.  You should be able to find the keys at a locksmith, I wouldn't trust Wal-Mart to have the proper keys.  I'm not sure where you can find the stereo. I'd look for the intake hose here or you might be able to find a compatible one at any auto-parts store.  Here's where you can find the other parts you're looking for, as well as some I'd recommend replacing.

Hey all. I first just want to say thanks to all those that helped out with my rich fuel problem. Sure enough the 2 lines that are in the back of the intake near the firewall were not even connected. The elbow ends were hard as a rock and broken. I have since replaced them, checked the rest and its running alot better then before. I still smell like gas after driving it but not nearly as bad as it was. Perhaps an O2 sensor will finish off the needed maintenance. Also the links that you all gave me were great. The one however didnt show any of the pictures  Agian all the help was just incrediable, thanks to all !!!!!!!!

Now for my new questions:(1996 1300 Spi, A/C)

1. When I turn on my high beams the off road looking lights on the grill turn on as well. Is this the way its suppose to work or be wired?

2. I have a fram filter in that looks way dirty. But the number is worn off and none of the local parts stores can find the right one. What model Fram, K&N or other will fit?

3. The exhuast looks somewhat stock but it travels straight back down the middle as opposed to those online that I have seen that bend at the end and come out one of the rear corners. And the muffler looks kinda bulky as it hits everytime I pull into the driveway or similiar. And the lip going into my drive is not much at all. What header and exhaust system do you all recommend that would maybe add some performance and sporty sound yet I can still use a CAT, O2 and perhaps even the Jap temp sensor? One that wont confuse the ECU and make it run poorly.

4. One of the members posted a link to a comperssor, however its modern and looks like its for a serpintine belt. Mine is the old style v-belt single looking pully type. Any suggestions on where I could get one?

5. What plugs would you all recommend?

6. And how can I get another ignition, door and gas cap key made?

7. And finally any ideas on where I could locate a mini radio and the fresh air intake hose that goes up in the fender well?

I have been browsing through minimania for many of these items but get confused as to many of the choices and so forth. So any advice would be great as to  what has worked for all those that have a similar mini. Thanks Steve
