Sorted it out. Used a small screwdriver to knock 'em out from the opposite side. Simple and obvious... which is why I didn't think of it at first.

I don't know about the Lucas connections, but typical spade connections usually have two points on them, one on each side at the base to hold them in place in the socket. I would think you just have to work at it carefully until they come out. Perhaps using a small jewelers screwdriver to pry to one side and back and forth until it comes out and/or needlenose pliars on the spade side to gently rocking it to force it out the back. Remember, patience is a virtue when it comes to fragile 40 year old plastic. dan "I don't know much, but what I do know I know little of "

Well, I've hit a minor snag. The new wiring harness I've got for the Moke was not supplied with the 9 way connector for the steering column. I've got the old harness to salvage the connector from. (never toss anything out until you're done with the project) Now how in the devil do you get the thing apart. One of the wires (a ground lead) came right out and it's just an ordinary spade connection. None of the other connectors are being cooperative and I don't want to bust the thing trying to take it apart.
