Been there done that! On Porsche's(1960, 1973, 1975, 1979) Quote: Originally Posted by JiMINI Wow, maybe I should have bought 2? Home Depot - Sell sets only and nothing past 1 1/4. Years ago we did a lot of work on old VW Bugs, the rear hub nut was a 36mm (if I remember) and most often frozen. We would put the 36mm socket with Sears biggest breaker bar, then slip an 8 foot pipe over it for leverage and jump on it until "something" broke. Most times it was the nut, but I remember bringing back at least 3 breaker bars over the years to Sears. I explained what I did and offered to pay. Everytime, their response was "Lifetime Unlimited Warranty", and they'd give me a new one. Maybe that's why just about all my tools/power equipment today has the Craftsman logo. Hmmmmm, loyalty. Just ordered the 30mm-42mm set from them tonight |
Thank You in advance! Cheers, Stieve

It also fits the crank pulley bolt, and the camshaft nut too. What a handy socket...

1 5/16" is a must have for those with S brakes too, as is hub nut size.

The 1 5/16" socket is a must with a Mini. When I bought mine at Sears along with a couple of other larger sizes, the clerk asked me a couple of weeks later when I would be returning them. It seems that some folks buy 'em, use 'em and return when done. And make sure you leave the nut on a couple of turns before you start bashing the back of the steering wheel. Just ask Doss what it can do to your teef. Zip Hey web geek Dennis! How about an emoticon with a blacked out tooth in honor of all of those that didn't heed the advice?

It's 1-5/16", or 33mm if you can't find one.

Anyone know the size of the nut that holds on the steering wheel? 66Mk1. I don't have a socket large enough and can't get my jumbo wrenched in there. So running out to get a single socket tonight. Mini....and then there were none......keep the legacy alive!
