Wenrt you going to toy with a twin trbo version. And you do know the new Skyline GTR has a simmilar variant of that engine, it was out of a 300zx no? How would you describe a person who is adding a non performance enhancing, chromed motorcycle part to the hood of his Mini? Sounds like 'vision over functionality' to me. Prez, Mini Owners of America, Los Angeles

When I was young, there was a newspaper in town called the Sentinal. It was delivered to your home in a plastic box beneath your mailbox. A kid in an old Honda Civic bolted the plastic box to his hood. Now THAT made a statement.

I think it would look great. But it will look even better with a huge exhaust pipe (not the whole thing, just the last 6") and one of those spoilers mounted on the back that goes WAYYYY up in the air.
The girls will swoon.

Actually, honestly, when I was in college I really wanted to mount one of those shaker hood scoops on my Opal Manta's carburetor. Wisely, I never did it, but still I thought it seemed like a pretty cool idea. If you mount this to your mini's engine, I would suggest to attach it right to the top of the rocker cover so it sticks up in the middle of the bonnet, and hook up a little cable to the real throttle so that the butterflies open when you blip the throttle. I wouldn't bother trying to hook it up to the actual carb intake (no point really).
Have fun, and post a picture if you ever do it.

I'm all for the muscular look, but you gotta have the power to back it up. don't let your alligator mouth get your canary butt in trouble!

So you are just thinking about the bug catcher sticking out not the v8? People are like slinkeys; they dont really serve a purpose but you cant help laughing when one falls down the stairs.

I don't think you know what rice is. Rice is sound and vision over functionality. What would you use to cover the weber? An air cleaner. The pic is an air cleaner, it is called a hypercharger. It has vacuum activated inlets that tunnel more air over the filter at speed. Those big Weber's need to breath. (Insert snide comment here)

I am lookning for some new ways to bring a little Muscle into the look of my mini. I was kinking of geting some thing like this and poking it out of the hood.
This goes an a Harly, it goes right over the Carb,
I would mount this to the carb on my mini and in the end it would look some thing like this just smaller.
What do you think? (Insert snide comment here)
