fine, but next time you and others want a sandbox to play in, why not build your own?  Just mark your thread OT:  Then, others interested in useful information can bypass it.  That's simple enough, isn't it?  Can't we all just get along ?

To this, Mini Mania would like to ask that the participants on this site treat others in the manner they would like to be treated.   Where views run contrary to your own, Mini Mania would ask that people are tolerant rather than intolerant.  Mini Mania is more than  happy to provide this service with intention that it brings enthusiast around the world together to promote interest and comrade among people that share an interest in these cars. But, if a circumstance arises that this should become burdensome to Mini Mania then the message board will be removed.  As enthusiasts, Mini Mania hopes to continue this service, and asks that everyone who participates do so in manner that we all can continue to enjoy this site.

Im just trying to Enjoy this site and you calling people "Childish" and "tossers" actualy breaks forum rules. So you're the only one in violation here.

So please be tolerant and extract the useful information from this thread and leave it at that.

If you dont enjoy or dislike the forum go and post on the other ones you alim are "better".

This is the best layed out and has the most information out of any of the other mini forums I have been to.

I dont know of any car that you have to have a High I.Q and know how to spell to be able to own.

"one of the best forums out there" for what?  juvenile humor?  if you really wish for useful technical help from a forum, you should open your eyes.  There are lots of good forums out there.  The people who provided useful information in response to my query responded in the early days of when my query appeared.  It is the latecomers who made a mess of it.

Its a topic about threads on bolts, not Nuclear Power! (A topic Alex knows more than a little about, I might add!) You received very informative responses, a few of which that may have actually answered your query. A little harmless fun by others is an issue, why? If you had not chosen to chastise the few for partaking in some frivolity, this thread would have stayed mostly on-topic. As it stands, not even IK's powers of thread-killing can stem the tide.

This board is probably one if the best resources for Mini knowledge out there, and even the most pedantic anoraks here are known to engage mirthful repartee.

But I am all grown up - it's even my birthday today and I got a cake and a badge and cards and presents and everything...

One person here is getting all het up and childishly stamping their metaphorical foot, and probably needs a nap.
Everyone else is smirking...

that's one of the problems with this board.  too much juvenile, off topic crap.  I look at about 4 Mini related forums and this is the only one that has so much garbage.  other boards focus on the intended subject and are so much more useful as a result. Alex, take YOUR thumb out of my bum and mind your own business.  Too many tossers on this board with nothing to contribute, so instead they just pollute threads that were previously useful.  why don't you kids go outdoors and play if you have nothing useful to say?  either that or  take summer school and make something of yourselves.  you're just a nuisance here.  i mean, what could possibly be more childish than a thread killer?   really !  Don't you have anything better to do with your time?  grow UP or find somewhere else to play.

While there is a time and a place for levity and being solemn, you need to get your thumb out of your bum and realise that this board almost always tends towards the former...
I see nothing out of the ordinary so far in this thread prior to your knickers getting into a twist and it veering off topic rapidly.

And with IK's reputation as a "thread killer" you may never get those bits back together again. Get it? Get it? Nyuk, nyuk nyuk!

How can you not have a sence of humour and own a mini?

it comes with the territory.

I take everything tongue  in cheek and expect people to do the same when they take the stuff I dish out.

why so high strung? life isnt worth living if its not fun. If you dont like it ignore it . it wont go away if you ignore it but at least  you wont get so wound up over it (pun not intended this time)

Personally if someone does get annoyed by my certain "sence of humour"/ "Childish sence of humour" as certain people would call it, I find it a challange to annoy the heck out of this type of person, I shoulndt but I do.

dont turn youre thread into a B!+chfest take from it the useful information and forget the rest. be the biggerman

remember this is a forum where other peoples views can and will be posted even if they are not youre own.

I have an adult sense of humor, something with which you are obviously unfamiliar.  I once had a juvenile sense of humor like yours, but I outgrew it.  You will too, hopefully.

One of us hit it on the nose with "class of fit".  There are different classes of fit that reduce the gap between the male and female threads of fasteners.  The tighter the fit, the more effort is required to thread those fasteners together.  And then there is deformed, damaged or contaminated thread too.

Thanks Declan.  My point was that there might not be anything "wrong" with the threads - they may have been designed to be tight like you're finding them to be.

6drufly,  your comments make a hell of a lot more sense than some of the remarks from the Peanut Gallery(aka Tossers Gallery).  Since most of the threads I refer to are into blind holes, locknuts are not an option and I doubt any cars are assembled with Loctite.  There is nothing at all suspect in these threads.  They are even cleaner than most and the original bolts came OUT quite easily.  It's only when I go to reinstall the bolts that they feel too tight.  I was planning to use something like Copaslip or likewise, so I will see if that frees things up.  Then I may end up safety wiring some of them.  I have order the Sears kit and am headed that way to pick it up.  Not unexpectedly, ARP makes a very nice kit, but it is only coarse thread and about $90.  Sears is $50 and included fine and coarse.

I think my threads are pretty virginal and that whatever is wrong with them is probably from birth.
