Been down that road already , got muddy junk to show for it and I am not questioning you or Sir KC at all. As a matter of fact my spring rusted off the top of the cap. This is water and water wetter. ------------------ QuickSilversVille

A 50/50 mix of water/antifreeze will reduce your cooling capacity to around 60-70% of water alone.
See Mini Mag last month for more in depth KC wisdom. Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

Oh I have the old one stored away in the "spares" pontoon. On todays commute with fresh rad clean out last night, fresh 50/50 mix plus some version of water wetter that Walfart sells, we ran 190 even while stopped in traffic in 100 degrees weather. ------------------ QuickSilversVille

on radiator cap pressure, I recall that the '60s British cars used lower pressure caps, and they adopted higher pressure along the way as they improved other aspects of their systems (or used as countermeasure for overheating issues in the "colonies").
Best to get what was originally on your car, if it is marked.
Our host lists about 6 different caps (not counting the blanking caps for fitting to a radiator in expansion tank applications), 4lbs, 7lbs"long neck" and 7 lbs "short neck", 10lbs "Coooper", 13lbs "'69 ~ '76", and 15lbs ("'76 on").
Hope that will help you find the right spec for your moke.
In any case, you'll probably want to hold the new one up against the old one to be sure before you buy it at the auto parts store.

Quick (pun) update. I purchased a Stant 11329 (13#) from Walmart yesterday ($5). Seems to be holding up. ------------------ QuickSilversVille

I've only put 100 miles on the car since we've had it, all in 70 degree temps.

Sounds like he is talking about a raditor cap. I think it is a generic size, I use a 16 psi one I think. "How can anything bigger be mini?"

I think AutoZone only sells Stants. I've seen a Stant on a Mini before so I know there's an application for us. ------------------ QuickSilversVille

stant makes some pretty serious radiator CAPS. Can you get by with a more garden variety cap that is also cheaper ??
