Yes...cut it long, hopefully allowing enough for shrinkage. Also allpied weatherstrip adhesive at the cut. Placed the cut at the top/center, and started/ended the filler strip at the bottom/center. But hey...even if it leaks...it never rains in Southern California, right?? Just kidding. I don't expect it will leak. Thanks for the info.
"Had to cut it to make it fit, but I believe the fit is good enough it will not leak."
Here are a couple of tips if you have to cut down the rubber to make the window fit. First off, try and cut it a little bigger than you think you need, and force the ends to fit into the space. As the weather changes it tends to shrink a little. The other thing is, ALWAYS make sure the split is at the top. If you put the split at the bottom it will leak.

Anyone replacing a front or rear window on a Mini...DO NOT do it using the line and pulling the lip over from inside the car. Do it as has been suggested in the previous posts. Put the rubber on the car, applied a coating of KY jelly all the way around, then set the window into the rubber and worked my way around. My wife and I installed the rear window in about an hour, max. That includes installing the strip. I did not use the JRC2674 that is sold for the rear window. I really liked how the CCB10011MS fit around the front windshield. I used this one on the rear as well. Had to cut it to make it fit, but I believe the fit is good enough it will not leak. Really looks good. Thank you very much for the recommendations!!

Oh...the best part of this was sending my wife to the store for the KY jelly. Told her to get the biggest tube they had. Wonder what the cashier thought?? heh, heh, heh
all good points but suggest you do not use a scewwdriver ( dr mini is a expert at minis and can get away with it ) you can buy proper plastic window tools for a few bucks , I have used screewdrivers for years but I have also cracked a few by pushing a bit to hard .
How are you trying to put the window in? The best way is to put the rubber in place in the body, then set the window in the rubber at the bottom and with 2 screwdrivers, work upward on each side allowing the rubber to come over the glass. Take your time and do it very carefully and eventually it will all be in the rubber seal. Windex or dishwashing soap will help. Just don't get the glass so slick that you drop it.

A mini micknick I have made friends with here in Germany told me you have to use a boot full of windex to get it in. He stressed that it is to take a lot of windex and you are to KEEP IT VERY WET during the process.
Has anyone experienced any trouble getting the rear window to fit using the JRC2674 window seal? Paint and headliner is done so I am now installing windows. The rear window will not go in. The wife and I tried to install it, and could not. I then had a professional "glass man" come out, and he could not get it to seat either. I am now going to try the CCB10011MS seal, and try to make it work. I know that it is for the front, but going to give it a shot as the window is not going to go in as is. My Mini is a 1978.
