Both group 2 and W&P arches are wider than the std arch. Fit them and the choice on wheels or spacers will need to be reconsidered to fill the arch properly.
I think the std arch is far more subtle and understated for the Swiftune engined sleeper that this car is... Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

Aznsurfer- Ok, it's a quick/crude Photochop, but this is what it looks like with body color arches. Lovely car. MTech does superb work. I'm with some of the others though, and I think W& arches would be very sharp!

Agree on the cheap arches, Otherwise a beautiful car. Consider Group 2 or Wood & Pickett. M-Tech Mike does indeed build to very high quality, and doesn't do revins. Sail & Drive Fast! Live Slow! Billy Backstay

I was going to say something but kept my tongue. The arches as they stand are horrid. ------------------ QuickSilversVille

Jim I'm really glad you found the seats you wanted. You tried so hard for so long to source a set. You deserved to find them! The Mini is looking really smart, but then again I'd expect nothing less from Mike Clubman & 1275GT - its hip to be square!

The black plastic arches actually don't look too bad on a Mini. They have a fairly substantial texture to them, so making them body color wouldn't be as easy as just lobbin' some color towards them. That being said, with a little bit of plastic dressing on them (like "Back to Black" - I think Meguiars made that) they look good on my car. ---------------------------------------------- My Higher Authority is the German Purity Law of 1516 .

yeah coloring the arches to body color might be a good idea. would probably make it look more classy looking instead of sporty looking. anybody wanna try photoshopping the arches for me?

With all the good bits on this car why settle for the cheap and nasty Sprite black plastic wheel arches....
Woods and Pickett body colour are good but (IMHO) original Oz style Gp2 or the Gp 5 versiosn are the best.

Im pretty sure that as long as its at least 25 yrs old it should be okay to ship it to hawaii....this is why i probably need a customs broker for clearance. any recommendations for a tacoma, washington port broker or port hueneme, CA port broker?
Michael Waterjohns of M-tech minis has been very nice on this build...Ive given him so many specifics and hes been able to deal with all of them. He is very knowlegeable when it comes to minis and very patient customizing this mini. Ive been waiting for many many years to finally have a mini, maybe thats why im so particular on how i want this mini to become.
Keep up the good work michael!
ps. the pics are impressive, can't wait to see more on the progress...

Miniboo Matt: I find your insinuation - no, accusation - that Mikey has just revinned something offensive. As anyone who knows anything about specialist car builders would tell you, he is the best there is. Bar none. And I'm not just saying that because he's a friend, or that he built my wife's car, or we are members of the same club, but because it's the truth.
I only know some of the story of this build, but what I do know is that the end customer has been extremely specific in his wants, and Mike has spent countless hours fulfilling them - especially finding a shell of the correct year. Metric is for people who can't do fractions.

I hope Jim doesn't mind me butting in. He was very specific with finding the correct age Mini from the start, it had to be a 1976. It took a while to find one suitable but that is what we did. This is a freshly built Mini, in no way a revin. The suggestion that this is a revin offends me. I put many many hours of hard graft sourcing parts, restoring and building Minis to make them better than new, not just swapping plates!! Here is a picture of the donor Mini fyi:

all i am saying is that it may say it is of legal age of teh log book but it is cleary a revin and as long as the guy buying understands this and realises that his car could be crushed on arrival in the states in then that is fine. I doubt there is a nything over 25 years old on that car!! What the buyer is doing is not illegal but what the seller is doing certainly is. Sorry if this leaves a sour taste but is the truth. Of course if it is a brand new shell that is different

It looks like he's having a nice Mini built for him by M-Tech. Because it's traveling 1/2 way around the world I'm sure it's of legal age. ---------------------------------------------- My Higher Authority is the German Purity Law of 1516 .
