Depending on work and a few other things I may be able to convince the wife to let me join for at least part of the trip through Missouri. (joke, she wants to join in too, especially if the 998 is healthy) Keep us posted.

You have quite a drive ahead of you! Around the cities, you should be able to find places to eat up until 9 or 10pm and a few places will be open all night. But you have to remember, you will be driving through some very small towns. Things do close earlier in the small towns. Hello!
There is not more enthusiast now?!? LOL I shall need some practical information:
In France, we are used to eat late, I heard that in US, you had for custom go to bed you early, and that after 8:00 PM, them would be difficult to find anything opened, is it true?
I want to get contact with the maximum of clubs at least one in every state, to organize small fiesta, of which think of it?

I got this message in my inbox as well just a day or so ago. I'm fairly sure the MOALA folks would love to meet up with the French Adventurists at some point along the old RTE 66 in LA/CA. Oklahoma has more surviving Route 66 sections than any other state. I take on trips in the state when ever I can.

Some could travel with them from the east coast to Mini Meet in Winona and afterwards some could head to Chicago and take the Mother Road west to LA...I'm just crazy enough to do the western leg.

Well, if they are bringing Minis from France, they have to enter on the east coast somewhere and then get to Rt 66. What a hoot to join them.

What a great adventure. We should help them all we can. Should we start by warning them to watch it around St. Louis...the home of the MADMEN?

Mini Meet East Meets West will be held in Winona, Minnesota in 2009 the 50th Anniversary of the Classic Mini. So, no MMW in 2009 and the MMW 2010 hosts will not reveal themselves until MMW 2008 at the earliest.

I responded to that e-mail in French and suggested they try to make their trip coincide with MiniMeet West 2009. Do we know when and where that is to be, or is that announced at MMW 08?
EDIT: now I see he's talking about 2011. I sent him links to MMW08 as well as this forum.

they'll love Angel Delgadillo's Snow Cap Drive-In in Seligman. If you ask for mustard, they squirt it ON you. A great place. The French brigade should time their trip to coincide with Mini Meet West! http://www.roadsideamerica.com/tip/101
