There's two different Mokes being discussed. Cecat missed the early connection. He bought the Yellow OZ Moke Al had for sale. Nothing to do with the ex-pixieracing Moke. Al, if you buy the engine, too, I'd pay to see you run the Moke! How about getting it ready for MM 2009.

I'd buy Pixie in a heartbeat if I had the money, and I'd be buying it just for the history! Call me stupic but history it what gives many old cars their character. Any one with money can buy an Enzo or Lamborghini, but not many can apreciate a car ike Pixie.

declanm- Please get off this thread, if you are not a bone fida buyer then chill out- You have tried to see to it that this thread degenerated into a slugfest/flamer direction- Well, it's not going to happen- I bought the moke , sight unseen, because l know Bob and his reputation in the mini racing field is second to none(well maybe Joe Huffaker)- I am not sure what direction the moke will take as yet-Maybe l bought it because in the inaugral "Moking around Florida Tour" I was running last most of the time in my 998 moke and now want to prove something to my peers- Maybe, l just want a piece of history, who knows, l have owned 8-9 mokes and only the "Catalina Island Moke" had any real provenance to be proud of- I hope to have it ready for MMEast this July and if so, look for it there- Definetly will be at the Grand Prix Festival in September at Watkins Glen N Y- Everybody stay cool, remember its' only money- BIG AL-

well Mr declanm its funny how people who have done little in their life , feel as they must belittle those who did something , I have nothing to hide or be ashamed of in my long racing carrier . I wrote the cheating book because I spent many years as a Tech Stewart and saw so much , My race car was legal and straight sure we all push the rules but that’s racing, i won because I was fast and determined. The race engine I am hawking is real and way out of your budget. The cars I sell are as advertised and I feel I collected some of the best, also way out of your budget. Yes I need the money, as I am trying to finish a 3 million dollar resort in the Bahamas I have paid cash for , so your refer as to my personal finance is rather off base . This forum was good a few years ago but seems to be polluted these days.

right Bob. History and a dollar or two will get you a regular coffee at Starbucks. As you said.....You need cash and are having a firesale. So it behooves you to pump up all of your items for sale. Just like any salesman. You even got in my face about that race engine you were hawking a while back. I can still smell your foul breath. So don't wait for me to ask the price of any of your stuff. I'm too busy spending money wisely where it will make my Minis better to drive. History is for those who have way too much money to spend on Minis and probably can't drive anyway. And please don't regale us all with your racing achievements. Anyone who has seen your book knows you simply ignored and broke rules everywhere and then wrote a book telling others how to do likewise. You probably sold two books and had one returned. So let the rock throwing begin. I never signed up for Miss Congeniality, anyway.

I remember seeing your Moke years ago. Very well prepared, very well driven. I would like to have owned it and continued its racing legacy but.......... Hopefully it will not be domesticated.

Funny, I would've never figured Big Al for one that lusted after FTD at the Mini Meet autocross... On the other hand, maybe he's just holding it for some guy in Ohio hoping to hit the lotto.....

Cranium, no i have not received the Moke yet, i think it will still be a couple of weeks until it arrives. I bought it sight unseen, something i would never recommended anybody to do, especially in my line of work, but Big Al has history, and he was great doing business. Will see how everything works out, when it arrives, but I'm sure i will be very happy. But it does complete my collection of mini's. It gives me time to finish my 61 Woody, the 66 cooper S, and my 69 Pickup, and my brothers 73 mini. Late, George

what a pile of do do , have you seen pixie she won many trophies for best looking car at the vintage meets , how do you go back 40 years and get history , how many cars for sale on this forum have Innnis Ireland and Fongio driven , how many minis for sale have documented trans am history , not many if any and my friend that costs money, big money if you have to ask the price you can not afford it , Pixie will sell and sell quick to some one who understands what motoring history is about. And even you can drive pixie fast , she goes where its pointed and all you have to do is push the petal down and hold on .

buying "history" is the last resort of someone who cannot make their own. It's often the most expensive component on any Mini. I have seen so many front-running race cars that were bought by people who were nowhere near qualified to even approach, much less match, the original owner's successes. SCCA Run-offs champions come to mind most often. Some of these cars with history are absolute pigpens that could only be driven quickly in that condition by the original driver. Others are clearly and obviously not outfitted within the spirit, or the letter, of the rules governing the form of racing for which they are sold. As always......caveat emptor.

the XKE is primrose yellow 2+2 top of car is oringal paint and the floor was fixed bout 8 years ago and the bottom sprayed and repained up the sills , it has new leather interior , all glass is good , wire wheels good tires the engine runs good a small puff of smoke when first started after sitting , still will do 130mph plus , the exhaust as just redone and new brake pads put in , and the electric fans relpaced . the only work it needs is the steering rubber boots replaced , i have the boots , and a battery for the cock. the paint is good , a few chips and spots like any 40 year old car , it has one rust spot comming up near the right side fender well but its very small . looks like a stone chip when undetected it needs new chrome front and rear bumers . it has 65,000 miles and gets may be 1000 miles a year right now to shows and running around on sunday . asking 24k . Its located n upstate NY Geneva area .

Tell me about the XKE. There isn't enough rust and wear on my Mini to keep me busy for more than a year or two...

Big Al bought it? How's he ever going to fit into that seat? "I reject your reality, and substitute my own." - Adam Savage
