Easily Add Power with Tunit Tuning
Tunit provides an efficient and adaptable method of enhancing a vehicles performance (power and torque) without the need to alter the vehicles original equipment or programming. The advantages of the Tunit are; adjustment for optimum efficiency (both manually, by the customer and electronically, via a PC by a distributor), flexibility, as in movement from one vehicle to the next and ease of installation. The principle of Tunit is to provide all these advantages that previous methods of tuning such as EPROM replacement and "flashing" or OBD tuning could not.

8 inches too long?  Sounds like I could finally fit my knees under the steering wheel in a Mini for once!

The tilt wheel is nice.  If nothing else it would make folding / unfolding myself a lot easier.

Nicolaus,

Did you change the wiring in the column or did you reuse the Lucas bits and pieces? What brand?  Do you have an after photo?

Mucho thanks,

Lance

Amen, Kerr!  Hence the thread.

Someone already has done this though if I recall correctly.  Perhaps it wasn't this forum after all...but I'd swear it was.

what we all need is for someone to install one of these into a mini, figure out all the tricks, and then teach is all how to do it (and post pictures of the final result so we can find out if it will look at all ok in a classic looking mini - not too large, not too "american" shaped, things like that). It would be GREAT to be able to tilt and extend the column in a mini, but I am too cheap and lazy to try and figure it all out by myself.

This kind of a thing seems like a real natural for our cars with their horrible driver ergonomics.

I've seen Nick's modified steering column, it looks nice and is well done but I think he said it was a PITA to get it right.  Think it came from some GM vehicle.

Thanks for that, Craig.

I'm still hoping whoever put one in their car replies to the post to see how that went and if pictures are available.

I've got a Flaming River column in my '56 Ford pickup.  It's a great unit and comparable to the Ididit ones.  I would suggest that you get one on Ebay from one of the street rod suppliers that have "stores" there.  I saved about $120 on mine.  They have what they call a 1" Double D shaft end and sell many adapters and u-joints to match almost anything.  Not sure if they have one to fit the Mini rack, but they also do custom adapters.

Edited for grammar.

Spitz listed the website.  I saw that someone had a picture one time here in the forum of one they installed in a Mini.  I was hoping to connect with that photo and hear how the install went.

In short, ididit is a less than creative name for a company that makes custom / replacement steering columns for all kinds of old cars.  They are beautiful to look at but I don't know if they are any good to use, especially in a Mini.  Some of them are stainless steel with tilt and telescope...quite the eye candy.

I don't understand the question, and maybe I'm not the only one.

What is an "ididit" steering column?

Like... i-did-it?, or idiot?...

Cranium
Inner and outer sills, left and right door steps, left-right-front-rear floors, and inner wings welded in place.  Moving to the boot area, then to the a-panels/front end.  Should have the welding done in 3 more years! :)

Battery Box removed, and rear valence removed.  Time to clean up the rust, and find the holes.

I'm picking out a Thermos for you. Not an ordinary Thermos for you. But the extra best Thermos that you can buy, with vinyl and stripes and a cup built right in.
