Advanced ProShift Relay Module provides 4 channels of user configurable triggers based on RPM and Speed. Specifically designed for your 2002-2006 R50 MINI Cooper and R53 Cooper S Hatchback, and for 2005-2008 R52 MINI Cooper and Cooper S Convertible.
While the FES TrackCoach™ ProShift Shift Light provides 4 user programmable outputs, they can’t drive the large currents required by items like intercooler sprayer pumps or the like. While you can directly control relays or the like with the outputs, we at FES have created a high current relay module to ease wiring an integration of up to four different loads.
The Relay Module contains four channels that can each switch up to 15 Amps (each!!!!) of current. Simply connect the output cable from the ProShift to the relay module, set up the triggering condition (and this can be RPM, Speed or a combination of both RPM and Speed) and connect the driven load and your ready to go!
FEATURES
4 Fused Channels
Safety is important. Because of this, we integrated a fuse with each control channel. The unit comes standard with 15 amp fuses. We used industry standard Littlefuse Series 297 automotive Mini Fuses, available from pretty much any auto parts store.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why didn't you use transistors instead of relays?
We looked into it, and to tell you the truth, transistors have some issues for high current loads. First off, you have to know if the load is coming "above" or "below" the transistor to select the correct one. Further, they dissipate a decent amount of power at higher current levels, and would require a heat sink (more complexity and more cost). When you look at the high-end driver transistors with overtemp protection and the like, they end up costing more than the relays that they would replace! Because of this, we chose to use state-of-the-art compact automotive relays to allow for the highest degree of application flexibility.
Can I use this module with things other than the TrackCoach ProShift I/O?
Sure! All it takes to use this module to drive high loads is a 12 VDC source (down to about 5 volts) and some method to switch the relay on and off.
All FES products carry a one year manufacturers warranty for manufacturing defects.
